Air Force Blue, Mission Green Program

The Resident Utility Conservation Program requires residents to be responsible for their own utility usage. Air Force Blue, Mission Green is Balfour Beatty Communities communications program for airmen and their families to gain a better understanding of the OSD and the Air Force Energy Plan. There will be education about utility billing at Air Force installations as well as conservation education in the form of energy saving tips, workshops and events.

The purpose of the program is to:

  • Conserve our natural resources and reduce our nation's dependence on foreign oil.
  • Re-invest energy savings into housing projects for improved housing renovations, community centers, playgrounds, resident activities, etc.
  • Reward Airmen for their successful contribution to the conservation effort.

How it works:

  • Each resident of privatized housing will receive a utility consumption baseline determined according to average utility usage over a period of time and by housing type and size.
  • Resident will receive the baseline plus 10% from their BAH to pay for utility usage. This will ease transition into the program.
  • Monthly statements will be mailed to residents who will pay the utility company directly.
  • Residents who consume less than the baseline will keep the difference of what was given for their utility usage.
  • Residents who consume more than the baseline will be responsible for paying the extra usage.
