COVID-19 Update for Residents

COVID-19 Update for Residents

Our thoughts are with all of our residents and their families during this challenging time. Balfour Beatty Communities provides housing for thousands of military families, students and other residents in communities located across the country and, in these unprecedented times, we are even more dedicated to our commitment to delivering exceptional living through exceptional customer service.

The health and safety of our residents and employees remains our top priority and we have put many safeguards in place in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including:

• Temporary closure of leasing/management offices to visitors/foot traffic
• Reduction of staff working on-site at any given time to meet social distancing guidelines
• Temporary closure of amenities and most common areas
• Suspension of routine work orders and in-unit preventive maintenance activities to limit in-person interactions
• Suspension of resident events

We have also implemented a variety of procedures and virtual tactics to further limit face-to-face interaction with our staff while allowing our teams to continue delivering all essential services, including completing emergency/urgent work orders, processing move-ins and move-outs, receiving rent payments, and conducting property tours and other leasing activities.

Our teams are working diligently to keep our communities open and operating smoothly, ensuring they are clean, safe and well-maintained. As providers of essential services, we continue to incur all of the expenses and overhead associated with the continued operation of our communities, including employee payroll, utilities, taxes, mortgages and insurance. In order to continue to meet these financial obligations, it is critical that timely rent payments continue.

We understand the COVID-19 pandemic will create financial hardships for many. We are actively tracking all federal, state and local laws regarding rental collection practices, including any applicable restrictions on evictions and/or charging of late fees. We also are working with the owners and mortgage lenders for the properties we manage in order to evaluate our policies on rental payments in response to COVID-19. Our policies may change as the pandemic continues to evolve, and we will seek to inform residents within our communities as any of our rent collection policies or procedures are modified. We also encourage residents to explore resources offered by federal, state and local governments that are aimed at supporting those financially impacted by COVID-19.

These are truly unprecedented times with many uncertainties, however our mission remains clear: delivering the quality communities people are proud to call home. More than ever we will be guided by the actions to which we hold ourselves accountable: putting people first, doing the right thing and delivering on our promises. We greatly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we all work to support each other.
