BBC Training team expands with learning experience designers

BBC Training team expands with learning experience designers

Last year, a dedicated training department for Balfour Beatty Communities was established to cohesively develop and implement effective strategies to better equip all employees for the unique roles they serve in the company. At the direction of Christopher Yellen, VP, two learning experience designers have been hired to continue the creation of this team.

In this newly created role, Mike Defina and Brian Kurkjian are responsible for creating learning experiences across several modalities; performing analysis to effectively determine requirements, specifications and objectives for employees; and producing materials, guides, courses and other assets that will assist employees in acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies effectively.

“I’m excited to bring talent like Mike and Brian to the BBC team and cannot wait to start delivering some exceptional training experiences for our communities teams,” said Christopher. “They are just part of how we’ll build a modern learning platform – focused on both content and delivery – as we move as much as we can online.”

Based out of the Malvern office, Mike joins the company with more than 20 years of training development experience. He most recently served as a senior program manager for the safety department at Comcast. Mike earned his degree from Penn State University.

Brian also has several years of experience in training, eLearning and instructional design, including his time spent as an eLearning course developer for eTraining, Inc. He earned his Doctor of Education from Argosy University. Brian is based out of Bloomington, IL. Welcome to the team, Mike and Brian!
